Elements

Planets, signs, and houses share the four classical elements. The colored arc just outside the wheel marks each house's element so you can compare it to the sign on the inside ring.

Analysis groupings

The Analysis section counts where the ten traditional planets (Sun – Pluto) fall, by sign (cosmogram) and by house (horoscope). Dominant groups are highlighted with a brief note.

  • Sign zones — three groups of four signs: I · Personal (Aries – Cancer), II · Social (Leo – Scorpio), III · Transformative (Sagittarius – Pisces).
  • Sign quadrants — four groups of three signs marking development from self toward the world: Q1 (Aries – Gemini), Q2 (Cancer – Virgo), Q3 (Libra – Sagittarius), Q4 (Capricorn – Pisces).
  • House zones — three groups of four houses: I · Personal (1 – 4), II · Social (5 – 8), III · Universal (9 – 12).
  • House quadrants — four groups of three houses: Q1 (1 – 3), Q2 (4 – 6), Q3 (7 – 9), Q4 (10 – 12).
  • House element groups — Fire (1, 5, 9), Earth (2, 6, 10), Air (3, 7, 11), Water (4, 8, 12).
  • House quality groups — Angular / Cardinal (1, 4, 7, 10), Succedent / Fixed (2, 5, 8, 11), Cadent / Mutable (3, 6, 9, 12).

Synthetic sign

The chart's dominant element (most-occupied of Fire / Earth / Air / Water) combined with its dominant modality (most-occupied of Cardinal / Fixed / Mutable) yields a single zodiac sign that summarizes the chart's main thrust.

  • Cosmogram synthetic — built from the signs the ten planets fall in.
  • Horoscope synthetic — built from the houses the planets fall in (requires birth time).
  • Ties — when two elements or two modalities are equally dominant, every matching combination is shown and flagged as tied dominants.

Other markers

  • Retrograde — planet appears to move backward at this moment.
  • Houses — twelve sky sectors anchored by the Ascendant (1st cusp) and Midheaven (10th cusp). Pick a system under Advanced; Placidus is the most common in Western astrology.
  • Hs column — house number where the body lands; shown as when birth time is unknown.
